Rubia is Dakota and Ghanaian artist from Prairie Island Indian Community and is an entrepreneur. She currently lives in Los Angeles on Tongva Land.

Rubia co-owns her own business with her sister Demetria called Sotascowi Designs selling her beadwork.

She often is inspired by both of her cultural backgrounds. She has been practicing the art of beading for 6+ years and recently started quilling. Rubia has been interested in more ways of incorporating her other artistic skills as well as abstract ideas into her artwork.

Rubia wants to showcase the beauty she grew up around in Minnesota. From the way, the lakes and rivers sparkle in the distance, to how bright the stars are at night from the country sides. She wanted the viewer to connect with each piece and the stories they hold throughout time Rubia used size 11 beads for the water and stars, as well as quills to complete the stars on the top of the hat.
